Choosing an Equipment Leasing Company
Choosing the right equipment leasing company can be difficult if you do not know what to look for in a leasing company. Always look for an experienced company, one that has expertise in the field of what equipment you are seeking. They should also know everything there is to know about the equipment you are leasing.
Don’t be afraid to ask for and check references of people they lease to. You want to make sure that other people they deal with are satisfied and are enjoying or are at least satisfied with their relationship with the leasing company you are entering into business with.
Work with leasing companies who have a good understanding of your financial situation, whatever that may be. Don’t work with pushy leasing agents or leasing brokers because they probably don't know or care about your situation and are just after the commission. You want someone who knows what they are doing and is sensitive to your companies business needs.
Check around a bit, you don't have to go with the first leasing company you find when you find what you are looking to lease, there may be a better price at a different leasing company or a better contract, one in which they will cover the maintenance on the equipment or one that splits the cost of maintenance with you.
One thing to look for is when you are done with the lease, is there an option to upgrade the equipment to a different, newer model and continue the lease at an agreed upon price? You can sometimes get a better front end deal if you are willing to upgrade at the end of the contract to a better model.
